Our final day took us to Saqqara.

We came back to Cairo yesterday, walked through the old Islamic section of Cairo and headed off this morning to see the oldest pyramid, a step pyramid.

Imhotep kept adding layers till it was tall enough to be seen from outside the surrounding wall.

And the sun sets on Cairo…. and our journey. It will be good to get home, even though there’s currently a winter storm.
